Studying Kenyan & Indian Sign Language
I truly thank God for Jisha and all of the Deaf here on the DOOR Campus who patiently taught me KSL & ISL. I needed to learn these languages so I could understand and learn the things I needed to know to bring back to my missions in the US. Jisha is from Kerala, India and is here with her husband doing Bible translation editing and involved with the CIT (consultant in training) program. I will bring back the Bible translations in KSL (Kenyan Sign Language) to use as study tools with the Deaf in the States. The American Sign Language translations have not been completed as yet. PRAY they will be completed so the Deaf in the US will have a translation of Scripture in their heart language.
There are approximately 70 million Deaf in the world today. Less than 2% have any kind of relationship with Jesus Christ.
IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE WORD OF GOD HOW CAN IT TRANSFORM YOU?
There are 400-700 signed languages in the world today, most of them yet to be discovered. Only one of them has a translation of only the New Testament: American Sign Language which is used in the US, parts of Canada and Puerto Rico. And this translation was completed in 2004, just six years ago.
