Studying Kenyan & Indian Sign Language

Studying  Kenyan & Indian Sign Language

I truly thank God for Jisha and all of the Deaf here on the DOOR Campus who patiently taught me KSL & ISL. I needed to learn these languages so I could understand and learn the things I needed to know to bring back to my missions in the US. Jisha is from Kerala, India and is here with her husband doing Bible translation editing and involved with the CIT (consultant in training) program. I will bring back the Bible translations in KSL (Kenyan Sign Language) to use as study tools with the Deaf in the States. The American Sign Language translations have not been completed as yet. PRAY they will be completed so the Deaf in the US will have a translation of Scripture in their heart language.

There are approximately 70 million Deaf in the world today. Less than 2% have any kind of relationship with Jesus Christ.

IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE WORD OF GOD HOW CAN IT TRANSFORM YOU?

There are 400-700 signed languages in the world today, most of them yet to be discovered. Only one of them has a translation of only the New Testament: American Sign Language which is used in the US, parts of Canada and Puerto Rico. And this translation was completed in 2004, just six years ago.

Hello world!

I did it! Welcome to my first blog!

Hi, this is Cindy. Welcome to my blog!  Feel free to look around and ask questions.  I would love for you to know more about Deaf people and their culture and why we are translating the Bible into sign languages. I hope this blog will answer all of your questions and help you fall in love with Deaf and their beautiful language. But most important to help you to catch the vision of Deaf reaching Deaf  for Jesus Christ here in the US and around the world.

I am working with DOOR International now training in Kenya, Africa soon to be back in the States working with the Deaf in developing the Deaf 2×2 program.

What is the 2×2 program you ask?

D.O.O.R. International sends teams of two or more well-trained Deaf leaders to unreached Deaf communities. They use the translation of God’s Word into the local sign language and DOOR ministry tools, combined with incarnational and relational ministry, for evangelism, discipleship, and the establishment of local Deaf Believers Fellowship.
